COLORFUL AIRPLANE HANGER WEDDING ON FAMILY FARM IN MISSOURI | NICOLE + BRITTON
Imagine me staring at my computer for 20+ hours over the last month trying to get 6,000 photos down to 200 to share on a blog post with you all! I’m pretty sure this was one of the hardest blogs I’ve ever put together for the simple fact that I wanted to share each and every moment with you! Nicole and Britton have not only become incredible friends over the last year, but they allowed me to be in every intimate, crazy, and beautiful moment throughout their wedding journey. From airport chats to sitting down and talking about music boxes with their grandparents in their living room to naming a week old kitty, Tammy, I have so many happy smiles poured into this blog! I hope you love reading about Nicole and Brittons love story!
“I enrolled in a summer drawing class at Johnson County Community College in 2007 and for some reason this handsome boy from Lee’s Summit (across the state line) did the same thing. He was studying graphic design I was studying to become an art teacher. We were both fresh out of high school and on our way to bigger schools 2 hours east and west. I found every opportunity to talk to him for the next 4 weeks. I was initially attracted to his kind eyes and smile, but after learning more about him I learned he was as kind as his eyes and his soul was as beautiful as his smile. We were nothing more than friends that made each other laugh during the occasional drawing break. I went to KState and he went to Mizzou. Thanks to social media, we were able to remain friends. We both eventually moved back to Kansas City, and in the summer of 2016 our schedules finally aligned to get a beer together. I remembered feeling butterflies because even though Britton was just an old friend, I hadn’t seen him in almost 10 years! I recalled how much we laughed together and I felt totally at ease around him. That night we caught up on a Westport patio and ended the night with cookies at Insomnia Cookies. I don’t remember what we talked about but I remembered never feeling judged for my quirkinesses and laughing a lot. He texted me later and told me that Flight of the Conchords would be coming to Kansas City and that we should get tickets. I was so excited and the silly music duo was one of the things we had in common. This time it felt like a date. We had super close seats and enjoyed the evening together in the outdoor theater. Britton took me on the next few dates to places I had never been. He told me there would be a meteor shower and showed me on a map that he was taking me to one of the darkest places in Missouri. Keep in mind, this was only like date 3 or 4 so to trust a guy to drive me an hour out of the city on a school night was a big deal. He parked and took a blanket out of his car and laid it near the edge of a lake. I had no idea where we were but it was dark and I could see so many stars. We could see the Milky Way and several shooting stars. Once my initial nerves wore off, it was honestly the most romantic and intimate moments I have ever felt with anyone. We looked for constellations and talked about our dreams. It was way passed my bed time but we had time to stop at the gas station and share a choco taco ice cream.”
Nicole & Britton,
I’ve never experienced the kind of love and care that you’ve given me from anyone else. You truly bridged that sometimes uncomfortable vendor gap that I try to break all the time. From dozens of heartfelt messages to dinner dates, and dreaming about future plans, I appreciate every moment that I get to be your friend! And I can’t freaking wait to be your forever photog through all those life moments ;) See you next week!
Forever your 3rd wheel Kyndal
“Bring your personalities into every choice that you make. Your wedding doesn’t have to include things that you’re not passionate about. Be as organized as possible and don’t be afraid to ask your vendors too many questions. If they don’t reply to you, they may not value your wedding day as much as they should. Be happy! No matter what happens, it’s a beautiful day and you get to marry your best friend. That opportunity is guaranteed to no one.”
