KENDACE + BRODIE | THE RAMSAY | JOPLIN, MO
Kendace and Brodie are such sweet souls. More and more I find couples who don’t value having wedding photos. But that wasn’t the case for these two considering Kendace’s sister owns Kathryn Patterson Photography. When you have a sister that takes photos for a living, you’re practically forced to be models bimonthly. The fact that not only Kendace and Brodie trusted me with their wedding photos, but that Kathryn was so supportive and encouraging, completely warms my heart and made me so excited to tell their story.
“We first met at church when we were both in high school. We didn't attend the same school, so we never really interacted outside of that setting. A few months after Kendace came home from college, she went to a friend's wedding, who just happened to be a cousin of Brodie's. He wasn't in attendance, but his mom was, and she had the brilliant idea to see if we'd be interested in each other. Our first date was making cookies together- Kendace knew immediately that she liked him, but he was SUPER quiet so she wasn't sure what would happen. Brodie also immediately knew he was attracted to her because he could tell she has a loving and generous personality. We fell in love over lots of football watched together, excursions to the creek with friends and family, and through our sweet puppies, Zeus and Sawyer Kate. Our personalities are pretty different, so at the beginning it was an interesting adjustment that we made, but it was worth every second!”
When Kendace told me they were getting married at night and not doing a first look or portraits beforehand, I gotta be honest, I was a little worried. Natural light is a photographers best friend and I’ve never tried taking wedding portraits at night. I absolutely loved the challenge and how they came out (see below)! I also came back to Joplin a few days after and did another after wedding session for them so they could have some really unique, natural light photos (see at bottom of blog).
Love you both and all of the adventures we’ve had over the last week! I’m so thankful for your trust and friendship.
xoxo,
Kyndal
Kendace and Brodie decided to do an after wedding session so we could get some beautiful natural light images. Here’s those as well! >>
Some advice from Kendace and Brodie - “Plan ahead!! Even with all the to-do lists and organization methods we tried to keep up to date, it still seemed like there was always another something to do. But also, take time to enjoy the process. Put aside the planning and remember to focus on your love for one another- that's the reason why you chose to get married in the first place!”
